“Diet” foods can prevent weight loss and cause obesity.
For decades, food manufacturers have reduced fat in foods and added back in sugar to make them taste better (like low-fat yogurt). In one recent study, rats who were fed a low-fat, high-sugar diet ended up fatter than those in the control group—even though they ate the same calories!
These “diet” foods trigger your body to store more fat by disrupting hormone balance and your ability to feel full and satisfied. Furthermore, sugar and processed foods damage the body’s detoxification system (the liver), raise inflammation, and negatively influence brain health, which then impacts your gut health. Need we say more? It’s a nasty domino effect of health issues that no one wants to deal with.
To lose weight:
1. Follow a diet that decreases inflammation.
2. Prioritize nutrition that helps balance blood sugar, promotes gut health, and provides the right amount of healthy fats, protein, and carbohydrates.
Don’t think of this like a diet—it’s a lifelong eating style that will keep you healthy and strong for years to come! For information on how to successfully lose weight and maintain your health, contact our office
